Claudia Poblete Olmedo

Chile

I’d like to see plain language theory in practice in order to help people.

Claudia Poblete Olmedo is currently researching the clarity of Chilean legislation. She is also a plain language advisor to public institutions. As a member of the Chilean Plain Language Network, she makes plain language proposals in other areas, as well. Claudia is a Board Member of PLAIN and a country representative of Clarity.

Claudia holds a Master’s Degree in Applied Linguistics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and a PhD in Spanish Philology (European Doctorate Mention) from Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Spain). She’s worked as a professor of General Linguistics, Text drafting and comprehension, Spanish Phonetics and Phonology and she’s directed theses on Forensic phonetics. She teaches oral and written communication to lawyers at the Law School of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso and she’s now focusing on clear legal discourse and clarity standards for Spanish.
