Plain Language clarity standards for Spanish: need and urgency

Claudia Poblete Olmedo, professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaiso and foundress of the Chilean Plain Language Network

In this presentation, I’ll tell you why we should work on standards for each language, paying special attention to Spanish. I’ll also address the need and make a proposal for clarity standards in Spanish. On the other hand, I’ll show you how the definition of clarity in Spanish will mark the development of plain language networks in Spanish-speaking countries, especially in Chile.

Participants will learn:

  • About the clarity markers in Spanish legal writing

  • Why it’s important to work on collaborative plain language networks
